Raigarh Police Arrest Fugitive Accused in Sexual Exploitation Case Under Pretext of Marriage
In a swift and coordinated operation, Kotraroad Police arrested Atish Dwitiya (26), a resident of Sonumuda Nawapara, who had been absconding after allegedly sexually exploiting a young woman under the false promise of marriage. The accused was taken into custody and presented before the court, where he was sent to judicial remand.
The case dates back to September 12, 2025, when the victim filed a written complaint at Kotraroad Police Station. She stated that she met the accused, who used the alias Atish Chauhan, via Facebook nearly four years ago. Gaining her trust, he lured her with marriage promises and in April 2023, took her to a known residence in Kokditarai, where he allegedly initiated physical relations. The exploitation continued at various locations over time.
Despite repeated discussions about marriage, the accused kept evading commitment. On September 11, 2025, he explicitly refused to marry her and allegedly threatened her with dire consequences. Distressed by the prolonged deception and abuse, the victim approached the police.
