Governor Ramesh Deka Applauds Assam’s Cultural Showcase in Chhattisgarh: Bhawna Dance Drama Highlights Ramayana Legacy
As part of the ongoing Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav, an interstate cultural exchange program was held at Mahant Ghasi Das Memorial Museum, featuring a powerful performance of the traditional Assamese dance drama Bhawna. The featured act, Sita Patal Gaman, depicted a poignant episode from the epic Ramayana and was performed by a visiting troupe from Assam.
Presiding over the event as chief guest, Governor Shri Ramesh Deka praised the Bhawna performance as a vibrant expression of Assam’s cultural heritage, originally scripted by Srimanta Sankardev nearly 500 years ago. He remarked that both Assam and Chhattisgarh share deep cultural roots linked to the Ramayana era, and their traditions reflect a shared spiritual and artistic ethos.
