Bastar Olympics 2025 Registration Begins: Over 2 Lakh Athletes Expected to Join India’s Largest Tribal Sports Festival

Dantewada, Chhattisgarh — September 22, 2025:
The registration for Bastar Olympics 2025, India’s premier tribal sports festival, officially began today in Dantewada. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Sports & Youth Welfare, Shri Arun Sao, inaugurated the event, marking the start of a vibrant celebration of indigenous sports, culture, and community spirit.

Athletes from across Bastar division can register until October 20, 2025, to participate in traditional and modern sports competitions. The multi-tiered event will be held in three phases:

  • Block-Level Competitions: October 25 – November 5
  • District-Level Competitions: November 5 – November 15
  • Division-Level Finals: November 24 – November 30

Last year, the Bastar Olympics saw a record-breaking 1.62 lakh registrations. This year, organizers aim to surpass 2 lakh participants, making it one of the largest grassroots sports initiatives in India. The event has received praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is gaining national attention for its role in promoting tribal talent and heritage.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Arun Sao emphasized, “Bastar Olympics is not just a sports event—it’s a movement. It has transformed Bastar’s identity and will soon place it on the global map. Every village, every youth must be part of this journey.”

In a major development boost, the Deputy CM also announced ₹5 crore for infrastructure improvements in Dantewada district.

Joining the inauguration were Forest & Climate Change Minister and Dantewada In-Charge Shri Kedar Kashyap, MLA Shri Chaitram Atami, and senior officials from the Sports Department. Shri Kashyap highlighted Bastar’s rich legacy in sports and culture, urging maximum participation from local communities.

The Bastar Olympics continues to celebrate tribal traditions, indigenous games, and youth empowerment. With growing national interest and strong local engagement, the 2025 edition promises to be the most impactful yet.
