Mass Wedding Ceremony Held in Kondagaon Under Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana

In a heartwarming initiative aimed at supporting financially weaker families, the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana hosted a mass wedding ceremony in Kondagaon’s Makdi Block. The event, held at Madi Prangan, witnessed 48 couples tying the knot, marking the beginning of their marital journey.

The celebration was graced by Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Labor, alongside Lata Usendi, Vice President of Bastar Development Authority and Kondagaon MLA, and other dignitaries, who extended their blessings to the newlyweds.

During his address, Minister Dewangan reflected on former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh’s welfare policies, such as providing rice at ₹1 per kg and free salt, as well as interest-free loans for farmers—initiatives that strengthened the financial stability of the people. He further spoke about the Good Governance Festival, a platform designed to extend central and state welfare schemes to tribal communities.

Highlighting the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Minister Dewangan emphasized the continued commitment of the Women and Child Development Department in registering underprivileged daughters and ensuring financial aid for their marriages.

MLA Lata Usendi extended her best wishes to the newlyweds, stating that previously, economically weaker families struggled to arrange funds for their daughters’ weddings. However, through the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, marriages are now conducted without financial burdens, offering significant relief to families.

Former MLA Sewakram Netam also congratulated the couples and wished them a prosperous future.

Following the wedding ceremonies, each couple received a marriage certificate and a ₹35,000 financial grant, ensuring economic stability as they embark on their new journey. The Gayatri Society representatives conducted the nuptial rituals as per traditional Vedic customs, with family members participating enthusiastically.

Several dignitaries, including District Collector Nupur Rashi Panna, Superintendent of Police V Akshay Kumar, and local representatives, were present to commemorate the occasion.

This event not only celebrated new beginnings but also reinforced the government’s commitment to social welfare and financial inclusivity, ensuring that traditions continue without economic hardships.
