During the meeting, Deputy CM and PWD Minister Arun Sao, along with Principal Secretary Subodh Singh, joined the discussions. The CM stressed the importance of developing bypasses and ring roads near cities with adequate overbridges and underbridges, modeled as expressways for faster and safer traffic. He also instructed the creation of high-quality connecting roads to link the Raipur-Jagdalpur National Highway with the Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway under the Bharat Mala Project, maximizing its benefits for the state’s residents.
Sai reviewed the progress of ongoing national highway projects, urging the appointment of dedicated senior officers for major initiatives and better coordination with NHAI to expedite work. He set a target of completing ₹30,000 crore worth of road development projects within three years, prioritizing budgeted tasks with swift estimates, DPRs, and tenders. The CM also called for effective protocols for bridge maintenance and repairs, emphasizing the use of AI systems for immediate identification of road issues, particularly in mining areas.
In Bastar, Sai directed accelerated efforts to strengthen the road network and complete construction projects, facilitating connectivity for remote tribal regions. He also recommended upgrading circuit houses and rest houses to meet modern needs, ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness.
PWD officials reported significant progress, with 95% of civil and electrical work completed for the new Assembly building in Naya Raipur and 60% of the new Raj Bhavan construction finished. The department allocated ₹106 crore for road safety measures this fiscal year, prioritizing black-spot and junction improvements over the next six months to reduce accidents.
