Chhattisgarh Celebrates Its Foundation Day with Focus on Health and Development

Raipur, January 20, 2025 — Chhattisgarh is celebrating its foundation day with a renewed focus on health and development. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai highlighted the state’s progress and its commitment to providing advanced healthcare facilities to its citizens.

In his address at the Indian Medical Association’s oath-taking ceremony, Chief Minister Sai emphasized the state government’s efforts to ensure better healthcare for all. He mentioned the establishment of primary health centers, district hospitals, and the expansion of medical colleges to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure.

The state has implemented the Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana and the Shri Veer Narayan Singh Health Scheme, providing free treatment up to ₹50,000 for poor families and ₹5,000 for families with elderly members. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance for complex treatments through the Chief Minister Assistance Fund.

Chief Minister Sai also highlighted that Chhattisgarh now has 10 government and 4 private medical colleges, with the construction of new medical colleges in Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham, Mundergarh, and Geedam to further expand healthcare services. He proudly mentioned that people from abroad are also coming to Chhattisgarh for treatment, which is a matter of pride for the state.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of organizations like IMA in strengthening the relationship between doctors and patients. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jayaswal, in his address, assured that efforts are being made to make healthcare services accessible and robust in Chhattisgarh. He emphasized the cooperation and dedication of doctors in achieving new heights in the healthcare sector.

The event was attended by former minister Dr. Vimla Choudhary, several public representatives, senior administrative officers, and doctors. Dr. Kuldip Solanki, the newly elected president of IMA, assured full support from the association in the state’s healthcare initiatives.
