Legal Firestorm Erupts: Complaint Filed Against Tamil Nadu Sports Minister for Controversial Remarks on Sanatan Dharma

In a surprising turn of events, a Supreme Court lawyer has initiated legal proceedings by lodging a formal complaint with the Delhi Police against Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Sports Minister of the Tamil Nadu Government and son of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The complaint centers around the controversial statements made by Udhayanidhi Stalin during a recent public speech, which have ignited a legal firestorm.

The Complaint and its Serious Allegations:

Vineet Jindal, an accomplished lawyer and ardent follower of Sanatan Dharma, has brought forth a formal complaint asserting that Udhayanidhi Maran, during his speech, delivered statements that were not only provocative and inflammatory but also derogatory and incendiary in nature towards Sanatan Dharam, a revered Hindu religious tradition. Jindal, deeply committed to the principles of Sanatan Dharma, claims that his religious sentiments were deeply wounded by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks. Specifically, Udhayanidhi Stalin is alleged to have advocated for the complete eradication of Sanatan Dharma, drawing an unusual analogy by comparing it to various diseases such as mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria.

The complaint goes on to make the following serious allegations:

  1. Udhayanidhi Maran’s statements reflect a clear and disturbing hostility towards Sanatan Dharma, a religion held dear by millions.
  2. As an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and a Minister in the Karnataka Government, Udhayanidhi Maran is constitutionally obliged to govern in alignment with the principles of the Indian Constitution and to show respect for all religions. However, his deliberate use of provocative and defamatory language in reference to Sanatan Dharma, with the evident intention of sowing discord among religious groups, raises serious concerns.

Among the specific comments made by Udhayanidhi Stalin that have raised eyebrows and fueled this legal action are:

  • His call for the “eradication of Santana dharma.”
  • The startling comparison of Sanatan Dharma to mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria.
  • His assertion that “these things which we cannot oppose, we have to eradicate them. Sanatanam is also like this. Eradication and not opposing Sanatanam has to be our first task.”

Urgent Legal Action Sought:

The complainant argues that Udhayanidhi Stalin may have transgressed several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including but not limited to sections 153A and B, 295A, 298, and 505. These sections pertain to promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds and making statements with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings. In light of these allegations, the complainant has formally requested that an FIR (First Information Report) be lodged against Udhayanidhi Stalin under the aforementioned sections, marking the commencement of a formal legal process.

The Context of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Remarks:

These contentious statements by Udhayanidhi Stalin were made during a public event where he called for a ‘Sanatana Abolition Conference.’ He went on to expound on the need to eradicate certain elements rather than merely opposing them, drawing surprising parallels with diseases such as mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria. Furthermore, he ventured into a critique of Sanatana Dharma, asserting that it stands contrary to the principles of equality and social justice.
