Women’s Self-Help Groups in Bilaspur Empowered with Financial Aid for Livelihood Activities
In a major step towards empowering rural communities, women’s self-help groups in Telasara village of Bilha block, Bilaspur district, received financial aid of ₹60,000 each under the Community Investment Fund during the Good Governance Festival. This support aims to strengthen livelihood activities such as utensil banks, tent rental businesses, and eco-friendly disposable plate manufacturing.
The assistance, provided under the National Rural Livelihood Mission’s Bihan Scheme, has been instrumental in enabling women’s groups to become self-reliant. Santoshi Mata Group President Seema Suryavanshi stated that her group would use the funds to expand its tent rental business, addressing the lack of public event infrastructure in the village. Similarly, Mini Mata Group President Mamta Suryavanshi announced plans to establish a utensil bank, ensuring local residents can access essential items for events without external dependency—providing both convenience and employment to the women involved.
Maa Lakshmi Group President Sumitra Baghel emphasized their initiative to manufacture eco-friendly plates, fostering sustainable business models. Meanwhile, Jai Maa Ambe Group President Ekta Yadav highlighted her commitment to bringing more women into livelihood activities through collective efforts.
District Panchayat CEO Sandeep Agrawal remarked that the administration swiftly processed applications received during the Good Governance Festival, extending financial aid to facilitate entrepreneurial ventures. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting women-driven initiatives that enhance community welfare and economic independence.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the women acknowledged that the Bihan Scheme has provided them with vital financial support and training, enabling them to build dignified and sustainable livelihoods. The Good Governance Festival, held from April 8 to 11, saw widespread public participation, with applications submitted across various government departments for expedited resolution.
Bilaspur’s proactive efforts in responding to citizen needs through innovative governance initiatives continue to set an example for inclusive rural development.
