Chhattisgarh Assembly Celebrates Silver Jubilee with President Droupadi Murmu
Raipur, [Date] – The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly marked its historic Silver Jubilee celebration today with an address by Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the President, calling it a “moment of pride” that the state’s 25th-anniversary celebrations coincided with the presence of India’s first citizen.
A Tribute to Democracy and Atal Ji’s Vision
CM Shri Sai reflected on Chhattisgarh’s journey since its formation in 2000 under the leadership of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He noted that the state’s 25th year—observed as Atal Nirman Varsh—aligns with Vajpayee’s birth centenary, symbolizing continuity in development and democratic values.
“The Chhattisgarh Assembly has strengthened India’s parliamentary traditions through constructive debates, people-centric policies, and decisions taken in a collaborative spirit,” said Shri Sai. He also highlighted initiatives like the Public Leadership Program at IIM Raipur for MLAs, emphasizing PM Modi’s vision of “continuous learning” for public representatives.
Speaker Raman Singh Highlights Legislative Milestones
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh recalled that President Murmu is the third President to address the House, following Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Smt. Pratibha Patil. He praised her life as an “inspiration for women, youth, and lawmakers.”
Dr. Singh underscored the Assembly’s achievements, including pioneering laws like the Public Service Guarantee Act (2011) and Food Security Act (2012), which became national models for inclusive governance. He also announced the Assembly’s upcoming shift to a new building in Naya Raipur, marking a new chapter in its legacy.
Opposition Leader Dr. Mahant Lauds President’s Humility
Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant hailed President Murmu as an “icon of simplicity and service,” whose journey from tribal roots to Rashtrapati Bhavan inspires millions. He pledged cross-party unity for Chhattisgarh’s progress under her guidance.
Governor Releases Commemorative Handbook
Governor Shri Ramesh Deka released a Member’s Reference Handbook and presented its first copy to the President. The event was attended by all Cabinet ministers, MLAs, and dignitaries.
A Future of Collaborative Growth
