Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh – On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hoisted the national flag at the PG College Ground in Ambikapur, the headquarters of the Surguja division. The event was marked by a joint parade and a heartfelt address to the citizens of the state. CM Sai extended his warm wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh, emphasizing the significance of the day and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and constitution-makers.
In his address, CM Sai reflected on the glorious journey of India’s democracy and the role of Chhattisgarh in upholding constitutional values. He paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to combat Naxalism and ensure peace in the state. “The victory of truth and the spirit of our constitution is evident in the progress we have made in Naxal-affected areas like Bastar,” he said.
Bastar’s Transformation and Development
CM Sai highlighted the state’s efforts to eradicate Naxalism, citing the elimination of over 260 Maoist cadres in the past year. He shared inspiring stories of development in Bastar, where schools have reopened, and basic amenities like water and electricity have been restored. The successful organization of the Bastar Olympics, which saw participation from 1.65 lakh people, including former Naxalites and differently-abled individuals, was a testament to the region’s newfound hope and unity.
Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Growth
The Chief Minister underscored the state’s commitment to farmer welfare. Chhattisgarh has become a model for food security, with a record procurement of 145 lakh metric tons of paddy last year. Farmers are now receiving ₹3,100 per quintal, along with bonuses and financial assistance. Initiatives like drone technology for pesticide spraying and climate-resilient seeds have further empowered farmers.
Women Empowerment and Tribal Development
CM Sai reiterated the government’s focus on women’s empowerment through schemes like the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, which has benefited over 70 lakh women. Tribal communities have also seen significant progress, with initiatives like the construction of Akhras (community centers) and the promotion of tribal culture.
Green Industries and Infrastructure Development
Chhattisgarh is emerging as a hub for green industries, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development. The state has signed an MoU with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to boost dairy production, aiming to establish 3,200 new cooperative societies. Additionally, the state’s rich mineral resources, including lithium reserves, are being leveraged to attract investments in electric vehicle manufacturing.
Healthcare and Education Reforms
The government has prioritized healthcare, with 77.20 lakh families covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Plans are underway to establish a Medicity in Nava Raipur, which will include a 5,000-bed super-specialty hospital and a pharmaceutical park. In education, the state has introduced AI and robotics in schools and revived board exams for classes 5 and 8 to improve academic standards.
Tourism and Cultural Heritage
Chhattisgarh’s tourism potential is being harnessed through initiatives like home-stay schemes and the development of iconic sites such as Chitrakoot Falls and the Guru Ghasidas Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve. The state’s rich tribal culture is being celebrated, with plans to install statues of tribal freedom fighters in their native villages.
Transparent Governance and Digital Initiatives
CM Sai emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and efficiency. The introduction of e-office systems and mobile apps like Sugam and Swagatam has streamlined public service delivery. The Atal Monitoring Portal ensures effective implementation of key schemes, while measures like online transit passes and the mandatory use of the Gem Portal have curbed corruption.
Vision for a Developed Chhattisgarh
As Chhattisgarh celebrates its silver jubilee year, CM Sai unveiled a roadmap for the state’s development, aiming to make it a model of progress by 2047. The government’s focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and sustainable industries reflects its dedication to building a prosperous and inclusive Chhattisgarh.
In his concluding remarks, CM Sai invoked the spirit of the Constitution and the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, urging citizens to work together towards a brighter future. “With determination and collective effort, we will overcome every challenge and realize the dream of a developed Chhattisgarh,” he said.
The Republic Day celebrations concluded with a sense of pride and optimism, as Chhattisgarh continues its journey towards growth and prosperity under the leadership of CM Vishnu Deo Sai.
